A little about me

Hello!

I'm Megan and I'm so excited for you to be a part of the Maxwell Studios family! The love for my family and holding onto those precious memories is my biggest inspiration as a photographer.

I started my photography journey in 2001 as I entered college. (My favorite image from college is Bobby with his guitar, shown below!) I started teaching preschool in 2002 and I would practice my skills on my students. The parents of my students encouraged me to go full time! I married my high school sweetheart, Bobby, in 2005 and after I had my first baby, Izzy, in 2008, I set my goals on becoming a professional photographer and turning it into my career. By 2010, after having Zak, my second baby, I opened my first studio in Peoria, Il as Photography by Megan. Throughout the following years, 2 more little boys came along, Maverick in 2015 and Maxwell in 2016.

Then came 2017, the year I will never forget and sometimes wish I could. Maxwell passed away at 6 1/2 months after we found him unresponsive in his crib. The following months (even years) I call "The Black Hole." My entire family fell into a deep depression. It felt like we would never get out. I had returned to work but my heart wasn't there. In 2022, I decided it was time to get my life and family back and I started on a health journey. Through fitness, clean eating, and family/mom and dad date nights, WE DID IT. The change in my physical and mental health has been nothing short of amazing and it shows in my work! I have so much love and energy that I pour back into my craft and, right now, the sky is the limit!
